The 3 Core Values that Guide My Practice

Authenticity - Authenticity is a cornerstone in my practice. When I present myself genuinely, you are more likely to feel understood, safe, and respected. My goal is to be open and honest about who I am as your therapist and back up what I say. My hope is this will allow you to express your thoughts and emotions more freely, facilitating honesty and effective communication. I want to empower you to embrace your own authenticity and to create a supportive and empathetic environment where real, transformative change can occur.

Respect - Respect is fundamental. I will always demonstrate respect for your experiences, beliefs, and autonomy and will validate your feelings and perspective. My goal is for you to feel heard and valued. I want to create an environment where you can explore sensitive issues without fear of judgment, facilitating deeper self-reflection and personal growth.

Compassion - I will always approach you with genuine compassion and empathy, caring for you and accepting you, regardless of your struggles. My goal is for you to feel understood and less isolated in your experiences, encouraging you to share openly and work through your challenges. I want to cultivate a trusting, nurturing relationship that will empower you to explore your emotions and achieve your goals.

My Why

I am here because being a therapist is a calling. I have always been a helper and found myself moving through life in different jobs and different spaces, all within the essence of helping others, but nothing quite fit. When the idea dawned on me that I could pursue being a therapist, something stirred in me and it clicked. Nothing has felt more authentic and right than when I made that decision. From the moment I stepped into the classroom on my first day in graduate school, I felt whole. I am so incredibly passionate about this work and hope to share that with you.

Molly Hurst, MA, NCC, LCMHC

I graduated from Clemson University in 2010 with my BA in Biological Sciences and with a minor in Psychology. After my undergraduate studies, I served in AmeriCorps, where I organized activities and volunteer efforts for the American Red Cross and taught children and teens about emergency preparedness and a variety of mental health coping skills. I later went on to obtain my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. My previous clinical experience includes working at Thompson Child & Family Focus where I provided treatment to teens, adults, couples and families and later working in private practice settings providing extensive treatment with adults, teens, and couples.

I specialize in working with teens and adults of all ages providing both individual and couples/marital therapy. I find great fulfillment in and have a passion for relationship work with couples and relationship systems from a variety of backgrounds. I provide therapy from a multicultural perspective for numerous issues and concerns, including but not limited to, relationship and marital issues, family relational issues, anxiety, general stress, life transitions, identity stress, sex and sexuality, trauma, adolescent emotional and behavioral issues, self-esteem issues, and grief and bereavement.

I have extensive experience in working with teens, adults and couples who identify within the LGBTQ+ community and with couples in alternative relationship structures. Utilizing an eclectic approach to therapy, I collaborate with my clients to determine and design an individualized treatment plan which is tailored specifically for them and their needs. My treatment pulls from a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities including Person-centered, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Reality Therapy, Existentialism, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral treatment, Mindfulness, Emotionally-focused, Developmental, and Postmodern Constructivist approaches. I have obtained certification in the Developmental Model for treatment with couples. I also utilize Sex and Kink Positive Therapy with couples who may be seeking this particular specialty. I also provide psychoeducational sessions for parents of adolescents as needed.

I meet my clients where they are on their journey and join them there as a partner. My goal is to provide a compassionate and accepting environment, yet also challenge clients to truly explore ways to obtain their objectives and best life. I always strive for therapy to allow for depth and exploration of self within a framework of professional proactivity and collaborative dynamics for clients to reach their goals while being true to their authentic selves. I conscientiously bring hope and courage to each session.

I am passionate about my work and feel it to be such a privilege to work with each and every client. I am patient, empathetic and non-judgmental at all times and strive to facilitate a safe space for my clients where no topic is taboo and vulnerability is honored and met with acceptance and compassion. I am also an ardent safe space ally for LGBTQ clients and ALL clients who are part of any marginalized, discriminated against or vulnerable population.

I offer day and some evening appointments both in-person and through telehealth.

I am in network with BCBS and Aetna insurance plans. I also accept private pay.
